AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): At the First International Conference on New Sciences in Engineering (Artificial Intelligence Futures Studies), held online by AhlulBayt (a.s.) International University, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani described artificial intelligence as one of the major transformations of the contemporary era in the fields of knowledge and decision-making, saying, “Artificial intelligence is now an active and influential reality that can encompass all aspects of human life.”
He noted that this transformation undoubtedly plays a role in religious and theological studies as well, explaining that, in simple terms, artificial intelligence refers to the ability of computer systems to perform tasks that require human-like understanding, learning, and reasoning.
The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly emphasized that artificial intelligence is not intellect itself, nor revelation, nor does it possess a rational soul or replace human beings; rather, it is a tool that assists human understanding.
Ayatollah Ramazani added that given the vast volume of Quranic and religious sources, as well as theological studies and research, including jurisprudential, philosophical, and mystical interpretations, the existence of a powerful scientific assistant can function like a researcher in facilitating access to extensive resources.
He continued that through access to massive datasets, artificial intelligence can classify information or, by integrating interdisciplinary data, place it at the disposal of scholars and researchers. Moreover, by engaging with a new and inquisitive generation, it enables religion to be explained in contemporary language.
